The »Riptide Park« is a reactivation of the public authority site on Mercatorstraße in Kiel. »Riptide Park« is a concept for reactivation and transformation of the public authority campus on Mercatorstraße in Kiel. lt dynamically reshapes the site and flows around its existing architecture. The park connects the individual buildings with their surroundings to form a holistic scenography. In this way, the public authority campus is reactivated and the historic site is transferred to the present day. A green oasis of recreation is created in the middle of the city. »Riptide Park« is a concept that is modernizing the site so that the past and the future can coexist. In it, the authority center from the 70s is understood as a heritage, its historical architecture is respected and thus an example of resource-saving construction is given. At the same time, the design opens up the area to its surrounding and their inhabitants. »Riptide Park« is not only a place to work, but also a green, identity-forming place – a lively meeting space for the city.
